We are a team of experienced, anti-racist, queer-affirming, and body-positive doulas in the DMV, with over 1,000 births attended. We take a limited number of clients to offer deeply personalized, evidence-based care that supports your unique birth goals.

For those choosing a hospital birth, we prioritize working with hospital-based practices where collaboration and communication thrive, including GW MFA OBs & Midwives, Inova Obstetrics and Gynecology - Fair Oaks Team, Midwives of MedStar, and VHC Physician Group.

Carolyn, Jackie, and Michele

We are fully booked through

Black Lives Matter and Black Births Matter. Systemic racism and personal biases are impacting families. To learn more, see here and here. Everyone deserves to be safe, respected and supported.

We know that we have work to do: Identifying our own personal biases; identifying and speaking out against racism when we encounter it in our personal and professional lives, and promoting Black birth workers and Black-owned businesses. District Doulas is committed to the ongoing process of learning to do this work.

Birth work is social justice work. There are several organizations already making a difference in the District and beyond. For examples, visit the websites below to learn more about two of the organizations and join us in supporting them.

"We may fall on opposite ends of the spectrum, but beneath the stereotypes and prejudices of our outer layers, we're all still human after all."
